This super cool ’55 Bel Air came from a local gentleman named John Day, who has had one of the most amazing lives that you could ever imagine. He is an original Hot Rodder from the 1950’s-1960’s, and he was also a Hollywood stunt man, as well as a rancher & rodeo champion back in the day. He has lived one of the most amazing lives that you could ever imagine, and it has been a real pleasure getting to know him. This Bel Air was his last build and he has won all kinds of awards @ car shows all over the area. It now sits on our showroom floor here in St. George, Utah, and is ready for someone else to be able to enjoy her!
This is an original 1955 Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop Deluxe, that is finished in Canary Yellow & White, which is a beautiful color combination and really pops in the sun. The chrome bumpers, chrome grille, and all of the stainless-steel trim is in excellent condition throughout, as are all of the emblems. All of the rubber & weather stripping was completely replaced as well. She rolls on chrome reverse wheels (15” on the rear & 14” up front) w/ baby moon caps, wrapped w/ Grand Am Radial GT tires (P215/65/R15 on the rear & P215/60/R14 up front). She has a perfect stance, and you can walk around the car a hundred times and she looks perfect from every angle. Underneath you will find the original frame, which was reconditioned, and the floors were sealed w/ POR-15 coating. Other features that you will find underneath include: front disc brakes, drop spindles up front, 2” sway bars front & rear, Flowtech Red Hot mufflers (dual exhaust), new gas tank, rear air shocks, and relaxed springs from a 1955 Chevrolet Wagon, which help give the car that awesome stance.
Open the driver’s door and you will find a beautiful gray vinyl/velour bench seat interior w/ matching door panels. Other interior features include: painted dash w/ new polished aluminum dash inserts, original speedometer/gauge cluster, chrome tilt-steering column, 14” Lecarra 3-spoke billet steering wheel wrapped in black leather, Vintage Air Conditioning, Chevrolet AM/FM cassette player, chrome door handles & window cranks, chrome ash trays, (2) sets of gray seat belts, and gray carpeting from front to back w/ Chevrolet floor mats. This interior is super comfortable and fully functional in every way. The trunk area was completely finished as well w/ matching carpet, matching spare tire & wheel, hydraulic jack, and fire extinguisher.
Pop-open the hood and you will find a 454ci BBC motor from the early 1970’s, lathered in black paint and dressed in chrome valve covers. Features include: RV camshaft, hydraulic lifters, Holley aluminum high-rise intake manifold, Holley 650cfm double-pumper carburetor, K&N air cleaner assembly & filter, chrome headers, power brake booster, chrome power steering unit, chrome alternator, Griffin aluminum radiator, polished fan shroud, Optima battery, and Hose Candy wrapped hoses throughout. The motor is linked to a TH400 automatic transmission w/ transmission oil cooler, which feeds power to the original Eaton rear end w/ 3.36 gear ratio. She fires up instantly, settling into a nice smooth idle, and she runs & drives beautifully in every way. The 454ci BBC motor has loads of power and makes for a very fun driving experience. The power steering & power disc brakes make driving around town effortless, and when you get her out on the freeway, she tracks straight and true. This is not a trailer queen, but rather a beautiful ’55 Chevy that you can drive anywhere and have the time of your life. The new owner will receive an owner’s manual, magazine article w/ photo of the car, various spare parts, and about a dozen trophies & awards, along w/ the free & clear title.
