1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe Resto-Mod

After dealing in high-end classic cars for the last 25 years, I must say that much of my experience in regards to Corvettes has been in dealing w/ all numbers-matching examples that have been beautifully restored, etc., but I knew that there was a very large market out there for customized classic Corvettes w/ all new modern drivelines, components, frames/suspensions, and so on. Yet it wasn’t until laid eyes on this gorgeous machine that I truly realized what all of the fuss was about.

Built by Factory Hot Rods Inc. in West Chester, Ohio, who specialize in restoring ’63 Corvette Split Window Coupes w/ their original bodies, this stunning Corvette epitomizes the term ‘resto-mod’, which derives from the terms ‘restored’ and ‘modified’. Finished in Titanium Grey Metallic wrapped around a gorgeous Competition Red Leather custom interior, this car is pure ‘eye-candy’ in every sense of the term. This was a no-expense spared build, and it was fully documented w/ photographs all along the way. Countless man-hours were spent making sure that the all-original 1963 Split Window Coupe fiberglass body was laser straight all of the way around, and that it had precise body gaps. The Titanium Grey Metallic paint is absolutely beautiful, and has been polished to a lustrous shine throughout. A Sapphire V1 ceramic coating was professionally applied to the exterior, which protects the paint, but also adds to the amazing shine. The front & rear bumpers were triple-chromed, and look like a mirror. Other features include GM LOF date-coded glass, custom mirrors w/ integrated LED turn signals, Detroit Speed 7-speed wiper system, etc. A custom tube chassis was built specifically for this car, and features coil over suspension w/ 18 different settings for ride control & height, C7 Z06 sway bars, C7 race-series axles w/ machined-in ZR1 wheel hubs, ABS power electric over hydraulic brakes, C7 Z51 brake performance package w/ 14” rotors, power steering w/ Stilletto rack and pinion, and an electric parking brake (made to stimulate the 1967 version that works w/ a micro switch). She has a perfect stance, sitting on 19” C7 Z06 Spider wheels wrapped w/ Nitto Performance Invo Redline tires on the rear, and 18” C7 Z06 Spider wheels wrapped w/ Nitto Performance Invo Redline tires up front. You can walk around this gorgeous Coupe a hundred times and you will not find a bad angle. Of course, w/ 18 different settings for ride control & height, you can easily adjust the suspension to be exactly how you want it to be at any time.

Open the driver’s door and you will find an absolutely beautiful Competition Red custom leather interior that was designed for comfort as well as functionality. Interior features include: red leather seats, red leather door panels, red leather dash, original-style electronic gauges w/ a 200 mph speedometer, Painless wiring kit, Flaming River tilt-steering column, Billet Specialties wrapped steering wheel, original style short-throw Corvette shifter, power windows, Vintage AC, Sky Drive GPS, custom sound system w/ Bluetooth/iPod connection built into the original style radio, and plush red carpeting throughout. This interior is extremely comfortable, w/ seats that can be adjusted to fit anyone of any size. Please look closely at the photos to see how gorgeous this interior truly is.

Now, let’s get to the heart of this beast, shall we?

Pop open the hood and you will find a brand new GM LT-1 crate motor producing 535hp, linked to a Tremec Magnum T56 6-speed manual transmission (Lakewood bellhousing & McLeod flywheel), which feeds power to the asphalt-shredding Winters quick-change rear end w/ 3.70 gears. Other features include: Bowler dual-disc hydraulic clutch, Tuff Stuff chrome alternator, Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve, electric parking brake, DeWitts high performance aluminum radiator w/ dual-spal 12” high performance fans, and custom Billy Boat headers w/ 3” side exhaust. She fires up instantly w/ the flick of the wrist, and she runs, drives and performs beautifully in every way! The Billy Boat headers w/ 3” side exhaust sounds absolutely amazing, just the way you want your classic Corvette to sound, and with only 530 miles on the clock since the completion of the build, this incredible machine has barely been broken in. All of the component manuals, along w/ a photo album which shows the build happening from start to finish, will all go to the new owner.
