1968 Chevrolet Nova SS Custom

SOLD!

Third generation Chevy II’s have always been a favorite among die-hard Chevrolet muscle car fans and for good reason. They simply have that no nonsense look and a stance that tells you that this car means business. The Nova Super Sport (SS) was transformed from a trim option, into a full-blown performance package in 1968. It was one of the smallest muscle cars ever fielded by Detroit, but don’t let the small stature fool you. These bad dudes were potent! The result of a two-year, frame-on project, this Nova SS was extensively restored & upgraded to an extremely high level by Dave Reeves, a noted builder of race engines, performance upgrades, and complete restorations. Dave does business in California under the name of ‘Reeves Complete Auto Center’, and this was Dave’s personal car. All great restorations/builds start w/ great bodywork and this Nova is no exception. The fit & finish is beautiful and the body panels fit perfectly all of the way around the car. Dave spent more than 200 hours preparing, block & wet sanding the now laser straight body, and then he meticulously applied three base coats, two exterior coats and two bottles of ‘Pearl’ while painting this Nova SS. The paint was from Dupont and the color is 2006 CorvetteMonterey Mist Metallic. This color is absolutely stunning and literally explodes in the sunlight. You really have to see this car in person to fully comprehend how beautiful it really is. All of the chrome, stainless trim & body molding was either replaced or replated, and is in show condition throughout. The plan was to keep the interior as stock looking as possible, w/ several modern amenities added for creature comfort. New seat covers, headliner, carpeting, dash pad and door panels were installed giving it that fresh from the factory appearance. Added features include: Power Windows, Flaming River 32” tilt steering column, Vintage Air Conditioning and Alpine AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB Custom Stereo System w/ Performance Teknique 800 Watt Power Amp w/ (4) Pioneer Speakers & MTX 10” Sub-Woofer. The original (in dash) Tachometer & Clock as well as the original gauge cluster on the console were completely restored. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, AC, sound system; everything works perfectly. Again, the interior appears factory correct w/ all of the creature comforts that you want. Now, let’s get to the heart of this super-cool Nova SS! Dave spent well over 40 hours building the engine at a cost of over $8,000. The original 350 ci engine was removed, balanced, bored & stroked to 388 ci, and now develops 450 hp w/ over 400 Lbs/Ft. Torque! Features include: steel ‘406’ crank w/ 3.75 stroke, Comp Cam w/ 505 lift intake, World Heads w/ 202 intakes & 16 exhausts, Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold, Holley 670 Avenger carburetor, roller rocker arms, steel beam rods, ported heads, March serpentine belt system, Cool Run cross flow aluminum radiator w/ electric fan and all new distributor / plugs / wires, etc. This potent motor is linked to a completely rebuilt T-5 Borg Warner 5-Speed transmission and rebuilt 12-Bolt 3.73 Positraction rear end. She starts, runs & drives beautifully and literally screams when you apply your right foot firmly to the floor! This is a super reliable engine/transmission combo that has tons of power & torque when needed. The Power Steering & Power Brakes (SST brakes w/ new lining & discs) make driving around town effortless. A new gas tank, sending unit & lines were also added during the build. This Nova SS also has the perfect stance, sitting on 17” American Racing Torq Thrust wheels w/ new BF Goodrich Tires (245/40/ZR17 on the rear & 225/45/ZR17 up front). Again, she performs beautifully in every way and is an absolute blast to drive! With over $40,000 invested in the build, not including the cost of the car itself, someone is going to get an amazing car for an amazing price! All of the receipts from the build, as well as the Owners Manual, Features & Specs Manual and 1968 Chevrolet Service Manual will all go to the new owner. Do not hesitate because she will not last long! Enclosed shipping is available anywhere in the world at the buyer’s expense.
