Oldsmobile muscle car collectors and fanatics, feast your eyes on this absolutely gorgeous, rotisserie restored and all numbers matching 1968 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds! According to the Hurst/Olds Club of America, this car is #378 of only 515 built. These Hurst/Olds cars have become highly collectible and you rarely see the 1968 model, especially an example as authentic and pristine as the one you are looking at right now. Originally delivered to Mitchell Oldsmobile in Huntington New York, this beautiful 1968 Hurst/Olds recently benefited from a professional nut & bolt rotisserie restoration that was painstakingly executed to the highest level. During the restoration process, the original body panels were completely disassembled, thoroughly prepped and then painted in (Code Z-Z) Peruvian Silver basecoat/clearcoat finish that includes the correct black accent stripes & professionally painted white pin stripes. This beautiful Hurst/Olds has a straight & spectacular looking body with narrow panel gaps that provide the kind of excellent fit and finish that would have been nonexistent back in 1968. All of the chrome and bright work from the front to the back of the car is show worthy. All exterior features appear to be correct from the T3 headlights to the original ‘Hurst/Olds’ emblems that let everyone know exactly what just blew past them. Open the door and slide into the absolutely beautiful (Code 940) Black Vinyl Interior that is as comfortable as it is appealing. The interior is absolutely MINT throughout. The original seats and door panels look like they are brand new but they are original to the car. A brand new dash pad houses the original gauges including the Tic-Toc Tachometer, which were all sent out and completely restored. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, etc., work perfectly. Even the original AM radio works like new. All of the Hurst/Olds exclusive walnut trim is brand new and looks mint. The original wood trimmed 3-spoke satin finished steering wheel w/ the red Oldsmobile rocket logo was fully restored and looks excellent. Sitting inside this perfect 1968 Hurst/Olds makes it feel like 1968 all over again. The original Hurst/Olds logo that is attached to the cars locking glove box lets you know that you are sitting in one of the premiere muscle cars of that era. Behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk is correctly equipped w/ fresh spatter paint, a brand new houndstooth mat, a correct spare tire and correct trunk lid decals. Now let’s get to the heart of this beast! Lift the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay lies the original numbers matching W45 Rocket 455 engine with its correct big block casting #396021F and its original correct partial VIN stamp 38M407836. Hurst was able to side-step GM’s lame 400 cubic inch mandate and this car became the only GM intermediate that packed the 455 ci motor. The new for 1968 Rocket 455 used an increased stroke to create 390 hp and a whopping 500 Lbs. Ft. Torque, which will pin you back in the seat quickly! Stomp the throttle and the correct 7028255 W31 4-barrel carburetor mixes fuel from brand new stainless lines w/ air from the correct black & chrome dual-snorkel air cleaner and shoves it into the correct cast iron 4V intake manifold. The correct Oldsmobile ‘D” heads sit above the correct cast iron exhaust manifolds which make quick work of spent gases. Behind the carburetor, a correct points distributor sends fire through correct Packard Suppression wires. Correct GM hoses circulate water through the original radiator, while brand new V-belts spin a new alternator, a new power steering pump and correct fan. The exclusive Hurst/Olds 13” stainless trimmed ram-air scoops pipe fresh air directly into the air cleaner so the Rocket 455 can breathe like it should. The original red plastic inner fenders and correct red engine block color look spectacular against the satin black hood & firewall. Again, the entire engine bay is detailed w/ correct chalk marks, correct decals and info tags, which give it that showroom fresh appearance. The original numbers matching 455 ci engine is linked to the original numbers matching code O TH400 3-speed transmission and original 3.91 rear axle. If you have never driven one of these cars, especially w/ the 3.91 gears, you will be literally blown away. They are brutally fast and an absolute blast to drive. Peek underneath the car and you will again be reminded that this car underwent a complete nut & bolt rotisserie restoration. At the front of the car, factory correct double A-arms hold fresh coils & correct shocks above a completely rebuilt and chalk marked front suspension. At the back of the car, a fully restored, marked & tagged triangulated 4-link suspension hangs fresh coils and correct spiral shocks and correct T3 12-bolt rear end. The exhaust flows through a mandrel bent true dual system into correct factory mufflers. Braking is provided by standard equipment Hurst/olds power front disc and rear drum brakes, which receive fluid from brand new stainless lines and correct Delco brake booster. This perfect 1968 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds starts, idles, runs, drives, steers and brakes like a brand new car. She sits on original 14” Oldsmobile stamped style SSII wheels wearing gray/silver paint w/ Oldsmobile rocket center caps and Goodyear G70-14 Polyglas white wall tires just like she did on the showroom floor 42 years ago. Lots of original documentation will all go to the new owner (see photos). This super rare Hurst/Olds is an investment grade muscle car in every sense of the word. It is the perfect investment for an emphatic Oldsmobile collector or any serious muscle car fan who wants only the best, and will only appreciate in value as the years go by. You simply cannot go wrong investing in a classic car of this stature. Enclosed shipping is available anywhere in the world at the buyer’s expense.
