1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350

SOLD!

Certain classic cars and/or muscle cars are like ‘time machines’. When you first lay eyes on them you are immediately brought back to a place in time in your youth when things were a little more innocent and less stressful. That is how it feels when I look at this absolutely beautiful numbers matching & heavily documented 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 4-Speed car. It brings me back to my high school years, where only the ‘cool’ guys drove such cars. Let me say right now that I have had quite a few second generation Camaros since I starting dealing in classic cars, but none have come even close to this car in several respects. First off, it is the best driving Camaro that I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The minute you turn the key and shift into first gear, you know that you are in a very special car. It is also one of the most documented Camaros that I have ever seen, with original documentation such as: Original Window Sticker, Original Owners Manual, Original Protecto-Plate, Original Dealership Brochure, Original Title and Original Repair Receipts from 1971. But forget all of that and just look at the car! She is finished in arguably one of the best color combos available: (Code 13) Nevada Silver wrapped around a Black Vinyl Bucket Seat interior. She left the factory optioned out as follows: Camaro SS Equipment Package, Muncie M20 4-Speed Transmission, 3.42 Positraction Rear Axle, Style Trim Group, Center Console, Rally Wheels, AM/FM Pushbutton Radio, Special Instrumentation, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Soft-Ray Tinted Glass, Auxiliary Lighting, Door Edge Guards and Front & Rear Floor Mats. On July 17th 1971, Patrick Deluhery walked into Scher Chevrolet in Brockton MA, and traded in his 1966 Corvette for this beautiful brand new 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Patrick also had residency in Illinois and decided for tax & insurance purposes it made sense to title the car in Illinois. He absolutely loved his new Camaro and enjoyed in thoroughly for several years but ended up leaving for Viet Nam to fight for his country. During his tenure overseas, his wife would drive the Camaro on the weekends, as it reminded her of her husband. When Patrick finally returned from the war, they decided to sell their Camaro as they were now a family of four and they needed a larger vehicle. He sold it to a young guy who burned rubber as he left Patrick standing there contemplating his decision to sell his beloved Camaro. The story is that it made its way to Florida where it was completely restored five years ago and had made its way back to MA. Amazingly enough, we have been in contact w/ the original owner Patrick, who is elated that his ’71 Camaro SS is not only still intact but in absolutely incredible condition, with its original sheet metal as well as its original drivetrain. She now sits on our showroom floor here in Saint George Utah, blowing the minds of everyone who walks in and sees her. Other than the rear spoiler and chin spoiler, which were added during the restoration and were only available that year on a Z28, this beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350 looks like it did 43 years ago. All colors, options, etc. are just as she left the factory. The sheet metal is laser straight all around the car and the Nevada Silver paint is absolutely gorgeous! The hood & door open & close beautifully and line up just right. The bumpers, chrome & stainless trim are show quality. All of the glass appears to be new but are the correct Soft-Ray. Open the door, slide inside and you will swear that you are back in 1971. The black vinyl bucket seat interior is gorgeous w/ a mixture of new & original qualities that appear correct & perfect. All of the gauges including factory tachometer, lights, blinkers, AM/FM radio, lighter, etc., work perfectly, with the exception of the clock, which works intermittently. From front to back, the interior shows extremely well in every way. Pop open the hood and inside the correctly detailed engine bay resides the original numbers matching 350/270hp motor, stamped with the correct T0609CJG suffix code (Tonawanda June 9th 350/270hp w/ Manual Trans.) and partial VIN. All hoses, belts, clamps, etc., are period correct. The original numbers matching 350/270hp motor is linked to the original numbers matching Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission, which is stamped PH15A (Muncie June 15th M20), and also stamped w/ the same partial VIN. This original driveline feeds power to the original 3.42 rear axle, stamped CJ0691E. As I mention earlier, this is the finest driving Camaro that I have ever experienced. She starts, idles, runs, drives, steers & brakes perfectly in every way and feels like a brand new car. She pulls strong through all of the gears, and shifts as smooth & precise as you will ever feel in a second generation Camaro. She drives extremely tight w/ no weird noises, rattles or vibrations. She sits on correct Rally wheels wrapped in brand new Firestone Wide-Oval F60-15 tires, just as she came from the factory. I think I have made my point about how much I love this car. It's a very special classic muscle car that simply has it all: incredible good looks, outstanding performance & reliability and extensive full-proof documentation. Bowtie fanatics & collectors, it really does not get much better! Someone is going to get an amazing car! Enclosed shipping is available anywhere in the world at the buyer’s expense.
