‘Red Hills Rods and Choppers’ is very pleased to bring you this incredible 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7 Litre finished in its original factory correct color combination of (Code TM) Candy Apple Red & Wimbledon White wrapped around a gorgeous (Code 85) Red Bucket-Seat Interior. This gorgeous full-size Ford sits in our showroom as a 44,650 original mile, all numbers matching and frame-off restored example, and we are guessing that it is the finest of its kind on the planet! When you think of the Ford Galaxie, visions of dad’s car come to mind, as it well should, being that the Galaxie served as Ford’s bread & butter throughout the 60’s and well into the 70’s. In 1966, Ford introduced the new top-of-the-line Galaxie 500 7 Litre, designed for people who expect a lot more than just ‘modest’ motoring. The new 7-Litre took the sporty Galaxie 500/XL and moved it up a notch or two. The 7 Litre was quite a potent package, with the 428 ci Q-Code motor producing a respectable 345 horsepower @ 4,600 rpm w/ a stump-pulling 462 Lbs/Ft. Torque @ 2,800 rpm, with 10.5:1 compression, heavy-duty low-restriction dual-exhaust and an un-silenced air cleaner. The 7-Litre is upscale everywhere you look with standard features that include: C6 Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission w/ Console Mounted T-Bar Sports Stick Shifter, Power Front Disc Brakes, Special 7-Litre Trim & Ornamentation such as Die-Cast Grille & Body Side Striping, Sports Style Simulated Wood Steering Wheel, Shell Contoured Bucket Seats, Full-Length Command Console, Bucket-Style Rear Seats, Automatic Courtesy & Safety Lights on Door Panels, Full Chromed Instrument Panel Controls, Bright Stainless Seat Trim, Stainless Trim on Foot Pedals and Deluxe Styled Wheel Covers. By ordering a 7-Litre Hardtop, the owner received a fully equipped luxurious sporty full-size car w/ total performance under the hood. Of course, all of this fun did not come without a price, as the 7-Litre was $500 more than the luxurious LTD. The unique ‘7-Litre’ emblems let you know that this full-size Ford means business. Jay Leno tells a great story in an interview w/ Popular Mechanic, about the 1966 Ford Galaxie 7-Litre being his childhood favorite. (http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/jay-leno/vintage/4330481). The stunning example sitting on our showroom floor was sold new @ Moltmann & Smith Ford in Mt. Carroll, Illinois on September 1966 and has seen only 44,650 miles on the road since that day. It has NEVER driven in the rain and was stored away during the winter months, every year of its life. Peterson Body & Paint in West Point Nebraska completed a frame-off rotisserie restoration in 2006, and when you see the car in person you will swear that it was just done yesterday. The 100% rust-free original body panels are laser straight all of the way around and the correct (Code TM) Candy Apple Red & Wimbledon White paint appears to be wet, and looks like it’s a mile deep. All of the chrome & stainless trim is show quality throughout. This Galaxie is absolutely gorgeous from every angle and has tons of eye-appeal. Open the door and your jaw will drop to the ground when I tell you that the (Code 85) beautiful Red Bucket-Seat Interior is untouched and completely original throughout. All of the original gauges, lights, blinkers, etc, work beautifully. Even the AM/FM radio works great and the lighter pops out hot! Only the clock is finicky, starting & stopping at any given time. The dealer installed Sun Tachometer has been with the car since it was originally purchased in 1966 and works like new. From front to back, the entire original interior is absolutely breath taking. Walk to the front of the car, open the hood and you will find the original numbers matching 428/345 hp motor residing in a beautifully detailed engine bay w/ concours touches everywhere that meets the eye. Everything appears factory correct from the Autolite battery to the FoMoCo hoses to the SM Co. radiator cap. It even retains the orange boot on spark plug wire #6, which was done during assembly! How many of you Ford gurus knew that one? The original numbers matching 428/345 hp motor is linked to the original C6 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, which feeds power to the original 3.25 non-posi rear axle. She starts, runs, drives, steers and brakes beautifully and has loads of power & torque! The low-restriction exhaust system is very unique and sounds BADASS! This 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7 Litre delivers one of the smoothest driving experiences that I have ever had. Total comfort & total performance wrapped up in one package. She sits on her original 15” wheels w/ original Deluxe Wheel Covers and new Firestone Super Sport G70-15 Redline tires. This beautiful classic Ford has been featured in several magazines & calendars and has won First Place awards at every automotive event that she’s entered.
