SOLD!

After dealing in high-end classic cars for the last 20+ years, it is not often that a vehicle arrives that literally makes my jaw drop to the floor. Such was the case when this absolutely stunning classic Pontiac rolled off of the transport truck into our showroom.

Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is proud to offer you this gorgeous, all numbers matching, rotisserie restored & fully documented 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix 2-Door Hardtop! This car is an absolute ‘show-stopper’ folks! Finished in its factory original (Code B) Blue Charcoal exterior, wrapped around an exquisite blue bucket-seat interior w/ console, this ‘65 Grand Prix is one of the most beautiful full-size Pontiacs that I have ever seen in my life, period! Built in Southgate, California, and sold new in Florence, Colorado, on April 27, 1965, to Mr. F.W. Tedesco, this Grand Prix has led a charmed life to be sure. The 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix was the flagship in Pontiac’s fleet of newly styled & newly engineered automobiles, and it offered a sports car design w/ smooth flowing lines. The beautiful front end of the new Grand Prix, which was Pontiac’s trademark design, w/ the divided grille & the vertically positioned twin headlamps, ensured that consumers would recognize instantly that this was the new Pontiac to have! Interiors were completely restyled w/ an all new instrument panel, and a massive amount of chrome & wood trimming. Never before had Pontiac integrated its sports car & luxury designs so perfectly. Pontiac actually won Motor Trend’s ‘Car of the Year’ honors in 1965 for its entire division.

This gorgeous Grand Prix was the recipient of a no-expense spared, nut & bolt rotisserie restoration, and retains its all numbers matching drivetrain, and its factory original sheet metal. The body-work is second to none, w/ laser-straight body panels all the way around the car, and the Blue Charcoal base-coat/clear-coat paint has been polished to a mirror-like shine and is simply spectacular. All of the chrome & stainless steel trim is in show-quality condition throughout. The factory fender skirts add a very nice touch, but can easily be removed if that’s your preference. The (4) correct T3 headlamps light the way, while she rolls on the original aluminum 8-lug wheels, wrapped w/ Coker American Classic whitewall radial tires. You can spend an entire day walking around this car and you will not find a bad angle. As I previously stated, it is an absolute ‘show-stopper’! The undercarriage is as ‘pristine‘ as the topside of the car, w/ everything restored to factory correct specifications throughout (please see undercarriage photos).

Open the driver’s door, and you will find one of the most beautiful interiors ever produced in an American classic car. While the blue bucket-seats w/ center-console, the extensive chrome trim & angled gauges lend itself to the sportier side of things, the gorgeous wood inlays exude pure luxury. Other interior features include: console-mounted vacuum gauge, factory tachometer, tilt-steering column, factory air conditioning, power windows, AM/FM radio w/ rear speaker, and map lights. During the restoration, the decision was made to create ‘real’ wood dash & console inlays, rather than using the cheap aftermarket faux-woodgrain pieces that are normally used. It was a wonderful idea and it could not have turned out more elegant. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, power windows, etc. are in perfect working order, and the factory AC blows ice cold. Please look closely at the photos to see how ‘perfect’ this interior truly is. The trunk was fully restored w/ the matching spare wheel & spare tire, correct jack assembly, and the correct trunk mat & spare tire cover.

Pop open the hood, and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay resides the original numbers matching 389ci/325hp motor (Code YF), linked to the original numbers matching TH400 automatic transmission, which feeds power to the factory original 3.23 rear end. The ‘YFengine code stamp, engine number stamp and transmission number stamp match the factory original Protecto-Plate. She fires up instantly w/ a flick of the wrist, and she runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way. The factory power steering & factory power brakes make cruising around town effortless, and when you get her out on the highway she tracks super-smooth w/ no vibrations, or strange noises whatsoever. These cars are extremely comfortable and have enough power & torque to get you down the road in a hurry! The new owner will receive the original owner’s manual, original warranty booklet w/ original Protecto-Plate, original 1965 Pontiac Body manual, original 1965 Pontiac Chassis manual, original 1965 Pontiac Air Conditioning manual, original 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix Dealership brochure, and various wiring diagrams, etc.

It is nearly impossible to find these full-size Pontiacs in such ‘stellar’ condition, due to the overall expense of the nut & bolt rotisserie restoration. This is an ‘exceptional’ classic car in every way, and will certainly satisfy even the ‘pickiest’ of collectors. If you have been searching for the perfect 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix, you will be very hard pressed to find a finer example anywhere @ any price!
