In January 1987, Mr. Bill Ragsdale made Mr. Rugel an offer he could not refuse and with only 11,038 miles on the odometer, this Tiger Gold GTO was relocated to South Carolina. Mr. Ragsdale spent two years freshening & detailing the undercarriage, engine bay, etc., and then sold it to well-known Pontiac collector Dick Bridges. After 20 years as the centerpiece of Dick Bridges collection, it was sold @ RM Auction in San Diego California to Paul Teutul Sr. of Orange County Choppers fame for a hammer price of $99,000. She sits on our showroom floor today with only 11,310 original miles since new. This all-original, all numbers matching Tiger Gold GTO is heavily documented with almost 50 years of paperwork including: original window sticker, original protecto-plate w, original warranty booklet, original dealer invoice, original application for title & registration, original registration, original owners manual, original keys, original tire invoice, original PHS documentation when PHS was still located @ Pontiac headquarters, Muscle Car magazine feature “Golden Tiger”, etc., etc.! Ironclad documentation such as this is priceless. Visually, this GTO is absolutely stunning! It boggles the mind to think that this GTO has never been disassembled or fully restored as the 100% rust-free original body panels are laser straight and the 70%-75% original paint glows every bit as good as it did when it left the showroom 47 years ago. All of the chrome & stainless trim including emblems are show quality throughout. Open the door, and you’ll find a positively stunning original (Code 213-B) black vinyl bucket seat interior that shows virtually no sign of wear at all. It is basically flawless and looks like it did in 1965. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, lighter, etc., work perfectly. Even the super-cool Delco reverb AM Radio works great! The original three spoke sport wheel features a pristine wood rim & Pontiac Motor Division horn button and like everything else, it is perfect. Pop open the smooth gold hood and you will first notice the courtesy lamp illuminating from inside. The second owner, Bill Ragsdale, commissioned Scott Tiemann of Supercar Specialties to pull the motor so that he could detail the motor and the frame, which explains the factory fresh look that you see here. Tucked neatly inside the perfectly detailed engine bay is the (Code WS) original numbers matching 389/360 hp engine (Casting 9778789) and build date (G205), which translates to June 20, 1965. The front pad reads 694226 WS, which matches the protecto-plate, etc. On top of the motor are the (3) original Rochester 2-barrel carburetors w/ original individual chrome air cleaners, correct metal tags and traditional yellow spring. Everything appears dead-on from the correct hoses & tower clamps to the Packard Suppression wires. The original 389/360 hp engine is linked to the original M20 Muncie 4-Speed Transmission which feeds the original 10-bolt Saf-T-Track rear end w/ the original 3.55 gears. This engine/transmission combination will snap your head back very quickly when you apply your right foot firmly to the floor. This GTO runs exceptionally strong and has loads of torque. She starts, idles, runs, drives, steers and brakes beautifully and is a BLAST to drive. Underneath, the original double A-arm & 4-link rear suspension ride on fresh bushings & ball joints to ensure the perfect ride. The new Delco spiral shocks replicate the cars correct optional Ride & Handling package. The exhaust flows through a new mandrel bent aluminized true dual system & factory replacement mufflers to give the potent 389 its legendary growl. This GTO has the perfect stance and features the impossible to find original 14” Hurst cast aluminum wheels that wear authentic G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redline tires.
