Chevelle SS 396 L34

SOLD!

Certain American muscle cars will never go out of style, as is the case w/ the beautiful machine that you are looking at right now.

‘Red Hills Rods & Classics’ is very happy to offer you this absolutely gorgeous, fully restored 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 L34, certainly one of the most recognizable muscle cars of the 1960’s! The Chevelle SS 396 had already attained an incredible following, which was further bolstered w/ its now-iconic redesign that appeared a year prior. This wonderfully optioned, Fremont, California built Chevelle SS is finished in its original factory correct Tuxedo Black (Code 10-10), and features a plethora of factory options such as: L34 396/350hp engine, Muncie M20 wide-ratio 4-speed transmission, bucket seats w/ center console, F41 heavy-duty suspension, power steering, power disc brakes, special instrumentation w/ 5K redline tachometer, and 12-bolt Positraction rear end w/ 3.73 gears. She underwent a complete nut & bolt restoration about five years ago, and now sits on our showroom floor here in St. George, Utah, in absolutely beautiful condition! The bodywork & paint is second to none, w/ laser straight body panels, and Tuxedo Black paint that looks like black glass. You really have to see this paint job in person to truly appreciate how perfect it is. All of the chrome & stainless-steel trim is in show quality condition throughout. She has a perfect stance, and rolls on original 14” SS Magnum wheels, wrapped w/ correct Goodyear Polyglas G70-14 tires. You can walk around this car a dozen times and it looks absolutely perfect from every angle.

Open the driver’s door and you will find a fully restored factory-correct black bucket seat interior w/ center console that just like it did 53 years ago when it sat on the showroom floor. All of the gauges, lights, blinkers, etc., are in perfect working order. A set of Mooneyes gauges was added under the dash, so that the driver can make sure to keep their eyes on the vitals, and an upgraded audio receiver w/ AM/FM cassette was installed in the stock location. If I were to keep this car, I would most likely replace this aftermarket cassette player w/ a correct Delco AM/FM radio.  Other than that, this beautiful interior is bone-stock in appearance in every way.

Now, let’s get to the heart of this beast, shall we?

Pop open the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay resides the date-coded 396/350hp engine, that looks completely stock in appearance, but was enhanced quite a bit during the restoration. Features include: TRW 10.25:1 compression forged pistons, original date-coded oval port heads fitted w/ a complete hydraulic 1.7 ratio roller-cam assembly, Edelbrock Torker II aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock AVS2 650cfm carburetor, Hypertech HEI distributor, original cast-iron exhaust manifolds, 3” custom dual exhaust system, etc. When you glance under the hood, it looks very much like a stock motor, but the former owner/builder claims a dyno-tuned rating of at least 425hp! The motor is linked to a Muncie M20 wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission, which feeds power to the asphalt-shredding 12-bolt Positraction rear-end w/ 3.73 gears. She fires up instantly, immediately settling into a nice smooth idle, and she runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way. The factory power steering & power front disc brakes make driving around town effortless, and when you get her out on the highway, she tracks straight & true. The heavy-duty 7-blade clutch cooling fan keeps her running nice & cool even in hot summer weather, and the 3″ custom exhaust sytem sounds absolutely awesome, w/ that deep throaty sound that Chevy big-blocks are known for. This ’69 Chevelle SS is an absolute blast to drive, and needless to say it is very quick! Most importantly, she is super-solid w/ no rattles, squeaks, or unwanted noises of any kind. If you don’t like attention, then this is not the car for you, as everywhere you take this Chevelle, a crowd will gather around immediately w/ folks snapping photos on their smart phones.

If you have been searching for a classic Chevrolet muscle car that can win ‘First Place’ awards at your local car events, but also one that can be driven and enjoyed to the fullest w/ out worrying about reliability, it would be very hard to beat this absolutely gorgeous 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396!
